Shop: Under One Roof

I was walking thru the Castro the other day and stumbled across an unique shop. It was filled with goodies galore. They had everything you could think of... household decor, books, candles, cards, gag gifts, useful stuff, useless stuff, but mostly a lot of fun things.

If you live in San Francisco and need to get a gift for someone, check out UNDER ONE ROOF, and you'll give twice without doing anything when you make a purchase. 100% of profits from the store are distributed to almost 50 organizations dedicated to the fight against AIDS. So simply by making a purchase here, you help the fight against AIDS. It can't get easier to help.

Under One Roof is located at 518A Castro Street (between 18th & 19th). Check it out!

Keep the Arboretum FREE in San Francisco

Dear Arboretum Supporters,

A Brief But Important Update.

At the May 28th Rec and Park public meeting, City Officials acknowledged "there is no public support for the fees", nevertheless it is still being pursued with pressure from the Mayor’s office.

We have the next four working days before the Budget Committee meets on the Rec & Park budget to communicate to the Supervisors and the Mayor to defeat their Arboretum fee measure.

You can significantly contribute if you write, email and/or phone the supervisors and the mayor. Our website has an easy to use form letter that will simultaneously e-mail to the Budget & Finance Committee members (Avalos, Mirkarimi, Chu, Dufty and Campos), the Mayor, and the other six Supervisors.

The supervisors are responsive and need to know that the people oppose the Mayor's non-resident fee proposal. Following-up e-mail with a phone call is very effective at this point. Here’s a link to send e-mail and get phone numbers for our officials: http://www.keeparboretumfree.org/contact-budget-committee

On Wednesday June 17th and Wednesday June 24th the Budget & Finance Committee of Board of Supervisors will hold hearings at City Hall in the Chambers on the Rec & Park proposed budget including any fee proposals. It is important we attend and plan to speak. Let us know if you wish to join us there.

No non-resident or resident fees! No IDs! No Gates!

Thank you for your caring effort and involvement and making a difference

Homeless Winter Warm Up - a Success!

Thank you to everyone who contributed to my Homeless Winter Warm Up and donated a scarf from their closet or a beanie from their hat rack this year. Thanks to you, we were able to pass out scarves to the homeless to help keep them warm this winter.

Here are some of the scarves we collected and simply bundled up with blue ribbon.

I went out with my friend, Bruno, on Christmas day to Civic Center in San Francisco and passed several scarves out to the homeless men and women in the city. It was wonderful to see the peoples faces light up with such surprise and appreciation. It is so rewarding and touching to see happiness in the faces of people who are alone and often forgotten on holidays. I also passed scarves out in the Mission District on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Thanks to your generosity over thirty people are going to have a warmer winter this year in San Francisco.

I am grateful for your support and so are they. Thanks again for your support.

December: HOMELESS WINTER WARM UP

SCARVES FOR THE HOMELESS DONATE A SCARF FROM YOUR CLOSET! HELP KEEP SOMEONE WARM.

I am collecting SCARVES to pass out to the homeless on Christmas Day. I need your scarves! We all have a surplus of scarves and I'm sure you can spare one from your closet. Your scarf will be passed out to a homeless person in San Francisco on Christmas Day. Your scarf will help keep someone's neck, nose or ears warm this winter. San Francisco can be brutally chilly in the winter. Scarves help the homeless stay warm and shield them from the wind.

There's still time left to DONATE A SCARF TODAY! Crocheted, Knitted, Cotton, Wool, whatever... it will help warm someone up.

PLEASE, Make sure your scarf is CLEAN and in GOOD CONDITION. You are welcome to send a card or note with your scarf that will be given to the recipient. Just neatly roll your scarf up, send it unwrapped in an envelop and mail it to:

The Scarf Collection is over until next year. Thank you!
Make someone smile this Christmas!
